What to Wear to Your Boudoir Session: Outfit Ideas That Photograph Beautifully

One of the first questions almost every client asks is:

"What should I wear?"

The good news?

There isn't one perfect outfit.

The best boudoir wardrobe isn't about buying the most expensive lingerie—it's about choosing pieces that make you feel confident, beautiful, and like yourself.

At Boudoir Babes Arizona, we help every client plan their wardrobe before their session, so you never have to figure it out alone.

If you're looking for inspiration, here are some of our favorite looks that photograph beautifully.

1. A Classic Black Lace Bodysuit

If you're only bringing one outfit, make it a black lace bodysuit.

It's timeless, flattering, and photographs beautifully on every body type.

Whether your style is romantic or bold, you can't go wrong with this classic.

2. An Oversized Sweater

One of our favorite cozy looks.

An oversized sweater creates soft, intimate images that feel effortless and comfortable.

Pair it with knee-high socks or simply wear it on its own for a relaxed, cozy vibe.

3. Your Partner's Button-Down Shirt

Simple.

Classic.

Sexy without trying too hard.

An oversized button-up creates beautiful movement and adds a personal touch to your session.

4. A Silk Robe

Silk robes add elegance and movement.

They're perfect layered over lingerie—or worn all by themselves.

5. Bridal Lingerie

Getting married?

A white lace set, veil, or garter creates timeless images that make unforgettable wedding gifts.

6. A Matching Bra & Panty Set

Simple doesn't mean boring.

Beautifully fitted basics often photograph better than elaborate lingerie.

7. High-Waisted Lingerie

High-waisted pieces accentuate curves while offering a little extra coverage.

Many women find this style especially comfortable and flattering.

8. Jeans & a Bra

This look never goes out of style.

It's casual, confident, and effortlessly sexy.

9. A Leather Jacket

Looking for something edgy?

Throw your favorite leather jacket over lingerie for a bold editorial feel.

10. Nothing but Sheets

Some of the most intimate images are also the simplest.

Beautiful lighting and luxurious bedding create timeless portraits without the need for elaborate outfits.

Don't Forget the Details

Accessories can elevate your session without stealing the spotlight.

Consider bringing:

  • Delicate jewelry

  • Wedding rings

  • Heels

  • Bare feet

  • Hats

  • A favorite perfume

  • A meaningful necklace

  • A sentimental keepsake

Sometimes the smallest details tell the biggest stories.

What Colors Photograph Best?

Some colors consistently create beautiful images.

Our favorites include:

  • Black

  • Emerald green

  • Burgundy

  • Ivory / White

  • Navy

  • Dusty rose

  • Champagne

  • Deep plum

  • Royal Blue

Neutral and jewel tones tend to photograph beautifully against our luxury studio sets.

What Should You Avoid?

There aren't many rules—but here are a few things to keep in mind.

Avoid:

  • Clothing that's uncomfortable

  • Outfits that constantly need adjusting

  • Wrinkled fabrics

  • Ill-fitting bras

  • Tight socks or waistbands right before your session, as they can leave temporary marks on your skin

The goal is to help you feel comfortable and confident—not restricted.

Do I Have to Wear Lingerie?

Absolutely not.

Some of our favorite sessions include:

  • Cozy sweaters

  • Bodysuits

  • Silk robes

  • Jeans

  • Dresses

  • Athletic jerseys

  • Band T-shirts

  • Button-down shirts

Your boudoir session should reflect your personality—not someone else's idea of what boudoir "should" look like.

We'll Help You Choose

One of the biggest misconceptions about boudoir is that you have to figure everything out yourself.

You don't.

Every Boudoir Babes Arizona client receives wardrobe guidance before her session in your booking guide.

We'll help you narrow down your options, decide what photographs best, and create a collection of looks that fit your personality and your goals. All you have to do is ask.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many outfits should I bring?

Most clients bring 3–5 outfits. This gives us enough variety without making the session feel rushed.

Do you have a client closet?

Yes! We have a growing client closet with carefully selected pieces available in a variety of sizes. During your consultation, we'll talk about whether you'd like to incorporate pieces from the studio wardrobe into your session. I do have a ton of fun add-ons to add all the fun to your session. Wings, Robes, veils, handcuffs, whips and chains. I have it all here ;) All you have to do is ask.

Should I buy new lingerie?

Only if you want to.

Many women wear pieces they already own and love.

Confidence always photographs better than a designer label.

Can I wear something sentimental?

Absolutely.

A wedding veil, your partner's shirt, a military jacket, a favorite sweater, or your favorite book can all make your session even more meaningful.

Your Wardrobe Should Tell Your Story

The best outfit isn't necessarily the sexiest one.

It's the one that makes you stand a little taller.

Smile a little bigger.

And feel like yourself.

At Boudoir Babes Arizona, we'll help you create a wardrobe that reflects your style, your story, and your confidence.

Because beautiful photographs don't start with perfect lingerie.

They start with a woman who chooses to celebrate herself. These images are for you. So wear what makes YOU feel good no matter what it is.
